Campervan de Jody

Comfortable and well-equipped campervan. The built-in heater makes it a great choice in cold weather. Reliable, easy-to-drive vehicle from a friendly and fair lessor.

It was an amazing camper van. Easy to drive & had all the essentials. Not in the newest state (as you can see from the photos) but we never had any trouble with it. Would definitely recommend it for anyone who's looking to travel around Scotland.

2 week holiday on the Outer Hebrides. Positive feedback - the van is very reliable however there were a number of other areas we felt the van fell short. Bedding given to us smelled of cooking and had to be washed on the first day of our holiday. Electric hookup cable - the van does not have an exterior hook up fitting therefore if you want to use hookup cable you need to hang this through window and keep window open (we had to tape window up so as not to get rain in van). The description of van being 'modern and super cool' we dont feel is a true reflection of the van - it is pretty shabby inside and out. Cool box doesnt function well as a fridge - it was too noisey to leave on at any time. The cooking facility is very basic - a small two ring camping type stove, the sink is mouted on untreated hardboard which isnt ideal to keep clean. The width of bed is ok however if you are taller than 5ft 4inches it's going to be uncomfortable as you'll be unable to stretch out. Lastly we unfortunately left a couple of items in van after initial contact with Jody we heard nothing back despite trying to make contact with him twice and still have heard nothing after 2 weeks later. We are trying to leave realistic feedback to assit any further potential bookers as we did feel very disappointed on picking up van but as holiday was planned we werent in a position to cancel. 

Nice van, we felt home from the first day. Engine, brakes, all reliable. Jody, the owner is a nice guy, not picky. And if you need, he will take the time to drive and show you tips if you never drove on the left side. 

Gerald is a bit more used than he appears on the pictures, but everything works fine.

The handover in Edinburgh went without a hitch. Jody showed us everything and also drove a demonstration lap with us. Gerald runs very reliable. We did not use external power at any time but were still able to charge our smartphones during the whole week. We once forgot to turn off the lights for 2 hours during the day, that we had to bridge the battery. But even that was no problem after we found out how to open the bonnet. Luckyly Jody was reachable at short notice and could tell us the trick (Gerald has special needs ;)). Also it was no problem to return the car 3 hours earlier than planned. Only the cleanliness of Gerald did not appeal to us so much. He was a bit grubby. Which, however, could be quickly removed with surface cleaner.

El vehículo esta bien en términos generales, te lleva sin problema a cualquier lugar a pesar de los ruidos que hace. Respecto al anuncio, no tiene WC, no tiene toldo lateral como se anuncia. Le falta un poco de mantenimiento general, algunas bombillas interiores no funcionaban y la nevera se estropeó. Por lo demás, cocina bien y para dormir en cualquier sitio cumple con su función.

Harry nous a permis de voyager dans toute l'Écosse sans aucune soucis et Jody s'est montré très joignable ! 

Très bonne semaine passée avec le van « Gérald » de Jody. Nous avons pu voyager dans toute l’ecosse ! Magnifique pays !

Dommage en revanche que le plein d’essence n’avait pas été fait par les locataires précédents. 

It’s a good van, it’s easy to drive. I’ve never driven something bigger than a car before but I didn’t encounter any difficulties. Jody was easy to contact and answered our questions pretty fast. Overall we had great vacations with the van.

Très bon voyage avec ce van capable de se faufiler dans les routes étroites de ce très beau pays et idéal pour ce dont j'avais besoin. Le propriétaire est très sympa et accessible. Je recommande!

Gerald has been a wonderful companion during our trip to Islay! Jody has been great explaining all about the van and his promise of a smooth ride has been kept. Absolutely 5 stars for clarity, honesty and 24h availability from the owner and the same goes for the comfyness and reliability of the well equipped and spacious van. Looking forward to bring Gerald on a new adventure soon!

El propietario un tío estupendo que lo ha hecho todo muy fácil. El vehículo se ha portado de maravilla. Lo único que me cobraron pocos euros más que el precio de la reserva, supongo que alguien aplicaría un valor de cambio de moneda distinto a última hora. 

Le proprietaire de ce van de 2003 avec 400.000 km au compteur est la personne la plus malhonnete que j'ai pu rencontrer en Ecosse :
Son van est vieux (ce que je ne critique pas, je le savais et ca faisait son charme) et agencé de façon artisanale avec des materieux de mauvaises qualité !

- Lors du check-in, je n'ai pas fais d'histoire quand le van avait un pneu crevé, on est allé au garage le jour meme, mais malgré les réparations j'ai du remplacer ce pneu le lendemain meme et le payer moi même ...

- Au milieu du séjour (2 semaines), l'etagere en bois au dessus du lit est tombé car les clous étaient rouillés, heuresement on était pas dessous ;

- Le support de la table s'est brisé au bout de 8 jours et la table n'a plus pu etre utilisée sur le restant du sejour ;

- Au retour, le proprietaire que je n'ai jamais vu et qui confiait son van a une collegue, nous a emmerder car j'ai suivi à la lettre les instructions de sa collegue pour remettre le van (il a d'ailleurs voulu me faire payer un jour de plus pour cette raison)  :

* il n'a jamais voulu me rembourser les 96 livres sterling avancé pour le pneu,

* il a essayé de me faire payer de soit disantes amendes de stationnement (lieu choisis par sa collegue et en sa présence),

* il a voulu me faire payer les chocs sur la carroserie deja présent au check-in, les defauts d'agencement du van lié à l'ancienneté (litterie usagée, housses des cousins abimées),

* il a voulu me faire payer le menage pour un van que j'ai rendu bien plus propre que lors du check-in,

* il s'est permis de faire une reclamation à yescapa m'accusant d'être malhonete.

Pour courroner le tout, sa collegue (trés sympa) à voulu pour se faire excuser de son comportement en me ramenant en ville avec un autre van qui appartient au meme propriétaire (il n'a meme pas pu demarrer)...

Je n'ai jamais vu un loueur pareil, il agence de vieux van de mauvaises qualités le moins cher possible, la qualité s'en ressent ...

Das Wohnmobil war sehr wohnlich, sauber und praktisch. Um Schottland kennenzulernen war es optimal.Der Vermieter war sehr nett und hat altes super erklärt. Vielen Dank für alles.

We were very happy about the van ! So convinient when you want to discover Scotland. 

The van was tidy up with everything you need (cooking tools, camping stove, plates, glasses, tea, coffea, etc.), candles even for a nice cocooning vibes ;)  

Sheets were not as clean as expected. Towels included in the van. Maybe a wiper to dry the dishes would be nice to have. 

It was a bit difficult to change the gears at the bigining but you will be use to it very quiclky. 

Jody was kind, availble for pick up and drop off, and answered quiclky to our messages. 

I higly recommend Jody's van !! 

van amménagé original et très pratique. fonctionne très bien. nous avons passé de très bonnes vacances dans le van de judy. je recommande.

It was great to meet Toby who showed me over the camper. He was helpful and informative.

The camper was however needing a little spruce up compared to the pictures. The cab area is a little bit tired. The vehicle itself drove well and was really reliable. The bed was easy to construct and it was very cosy.

Toby explained the camper had been dropped off late so had only had a short time to turn it around for our hire. We werent too worried as we were only using it for one night.

We used our own bedding so it was not a problem. I think there should have been a reduction in price as things were not 100% spotless.

Over all it was a great experiance and we would definately hire from Toby again.
